This book is a fascinating combination of history, biography, and "what if".
The biography aspect is written in fiction form, about people who are not only important to the history of Utah but the US government. It also makes a good case for how the contribution the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints makes to the integrity of the past
The history encompasses all of the native Americans and their part in maintaining the beauty and harmony in the land that is Utah - from the Fremont Indians to the Mormon families that settled the land.
The "what if" part of the story is the author's personification of the spirit of those who loved and protected the land and it's history.
All in all, he makes a good case for the honest preservation of shields in the land where they were found.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in history, romance, fantasy, or reading.
I have done a little research on the History of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and found it always fascinating - this book is no exception. It also offers a glimpse into the life of the people who settled Utah, Parts of Idaho, Wyoming, and California.
