I Read, I Write

I enjoyed reading about the people who shaped the character of Eagle county, Colorado, my new home.
My favorite characters were Sarah Doherty, Ed slaughter, and Joseph Gilpin. Sarah because she was a woman after my own heart, reminding me of my own ancestors and the baker family women. She faced disappointment with courage and determination and moved on without regret into the future. Ed Slaughter, because he was what needed doing in the time and space of the moment, and did it well. Joseph Gilpin, because he lived for the work that he was able to do for others, and not for the things others could do for him. All three were winners and a credit to the country they made their home.
